Festival Significance
Maha Shivaratri celebrates the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva and his marriage to Goddess Parvati. It is a night of spiritual significance for purification, meditation, and seeking divine blessings.
All-Night Vigil Program
- Evening Aarti (6:00 PM): Opening prayers and lamp lighting
- First Prahar (7-10 PM): Rudrabhishekam with milk
- Second Prahar (10 PM-1 AM): Abhishekam with yogurt and honey
- Third Prahar (1-4 AM): Abhishekam with ghee and water
- Fourth Prahar (4-7 AM): Final abhishekam and morning aarti
Spiritual Practices
- Fasting: Complete fast or fruit diet observed by devotees
- Rudra Abhishekam: Continuous bathing of Shiva Lingam
- Mantra Chanting: Om Namah Shivaya repetition throughout the night
