Celebrate the victory of good over evil with the traditional Holika bonfire ceremony, prayers, and community gatherings at designated grounds.
The Legend
Holika Dahan commemorates the story of Prahlad's devotion to Lord Vishnu and the burning of demoness Holika, symbolizing the victory of devotion over evil.
Evening Program
- 6:00 PM: Community gathering and setup
- 6:30 PM: Story narration of Prahlad and Holika
- 7:00 PM: Holika puja and prayers
- 7:30 PM: Lighting of the sacred bonfire
- 8:00 PM: Circumambulation and offerings to fire
- 8:30 PM: Community singing and celebration
Traditions
- Walking around the bonfire 3 or 7 times
- Offering new harvest grains to the fire
- Taking home sacred ash for blessings
- Community bonding before Holi colors
Dress: Old clothes (as it's near an open fire)
